ProofLayer is designed to protect information on your device, not collect it for us.
What the extension handles
ProofLayer may process ordinary form text, website URLs and titles, timestamps, confirmation messages, reference numbers, and screenshots you explicitly request. This processing supports draft recovery, submission receipts, manual proof capture, search, export, and retention controls.
Where information is stored
ProofLayer stores its archive in Chrome's local extension storage on your device. The current beta has no ProofLayer account, analytics service, advertising SDK, remote AI service, or cloud-sync backend. Information leaves the extension only when you deliberately open a website, export a record, or share an exported file.
Fields intentionally excluded
The extension excludes password and file inputs and uses field labels, names, input types, and autocomplete attributes to avoid payment-card details, security codes, authentication codes, banking credentials, Social Security numbers, private keys, and seed phrases. Automated exclusion is a safety layer, not a guarantee; pause ProofLayer before entering unusually sensitive information.
Permissions
Site access allows automatic protection and confirmation detection on ordinary web pages. Storage keeps drafts, receipts, settings, and optional screenshots locally. Active tab allows a screenshot only when you press Save proof.
Your controls
You can pause individual domains, disable protection, choose a retention period, delete drafts or receipts, disable manual screenshots, and remove the extension to delete its local extension storage through Chrome.
Sharing and sale
Likelyr does not sell ProofLayer data, use it for advertising, or transfer it for unrelated purposes. The beta does not transmit archive contents to Likelyr.
